In
short we have an nineteenth century socket bayonet, two medieval or
earlier spearheads, one spear still mounted on a wooden shaft and two
small swords possibly of seventeenth
century origin as well as a
handful of small cannon balls. Hopefully further research into church
records may provide a context and a provenance for these pieces,
otherwise they are little more than curiosities.
What is clear is
that they are worth displaying within the church, something we hope to
do once we have finished researching them.
